Read these quick tips for installing a car seat properly!

It is vital to use a rear-facing child seat until your toddler is at least two years old. But how do you know that you correctly installed that seat?

Professionals at Fiesta Motors of Lubbock understand that correct installation of a child safety seat is just as important as choosing the right kind of safety restraint for your baby—and having a safe, reliable used vehicle ranks right up there. We can help you with both.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration officials recommend:

  • Read the instruction manual for the car seat as well as the owner's manual for your vehicle. Every seat and vehicle are different.
  • Install the safety seat in the back, never the front passenger.
  • Pull at the belt path—if the seat shifts more than 1 inch in any direction, it must be tightened.
  • Make sure that forward-facing seats are secured with a tether strap, and that rear-facing seats are installed at the proper recline angle.

Sound complicated? Recent-model vehicles may in fact be rated by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety officials for how easy child seat installation is.
